Your guide to making a difference in your community by running for office in the Spring 2025 elections.
Running for local office is one of the most impactful ways to serve your community. Whether you’re passionate about education, public health, or sustainable development, serving in local government allows you to directly influence these areas. The Acton Area League of Women Voters encourages community members to consider this rewarding path.
Before diving into a campaign, it's essential to understand the responsibilities associated with the office you are interested in. Attend a few meetings, speak with current or former officeholders, and research the Open Meeting Law to ensure you are well-prepared. Your campaign should be based on informed positions rather than purely emotional appeals.
