What has the League of Women Voters - Acton Area Been Up To?

Members of the League from Acton, Boxborough, Hudson, Littleton, Maynard, and Stow have been busy through the summer and fall with lots of activities aimed at educating and encouraging voters to be active  participants in our democracy.flyer ForumMay30

We started out the summer planning a candidate forum for the 14th Middlesex District State Representative primary election. The forum was jointly run by the Acton Area League, the Concord-Carlisle League, and the Chelmsford League and provided a great opportunity for voters to get to know the candidates in advance of the primary in September.

Diwali Fest 10-15-22Members of the Acton Area League then headed out into the community, manning the League of Women Voters table at multiple local farmer's markets. We visited farmer's markets in Acton and Maynard, Hudson Fest , Fifer's Day in Boxborough, and Maynard Fest, and capped off the season with Diwali Fest in Acton. Kids came out to vote on their favorite ice cream flavor or Among Us character while their parents talked voter registration,messages_0 (9) elections, and local events.

In October, the Acton Area League collaborated once again with Concord-Carlisle on a candidate forum for the 14th Middlesex District general election.A live audience at Concord's Harvey Wheeler Community Center asked questions of candidates Simon Cataldo and Rod Cleaves. Finally, the League contributed a scarecrow to the Curcubit Farm "Stand Up to image0 (6) Stigma" scarecrow contest, to benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness Central Middlesex.Hopefully everyone recognizes our scarecrow!
